The Tapestry Room

The Gobelinzimmer (Tapestry Room), adjoining the Kaminsaal (Fireplace Room), is an intimate yet elegant room. Early on it was intended as a room for the deputy mayor. This small, comfortable meeting and consultation room is brightly panelled in American white wood. It is now also possible to hold marriage ceremonies in this friendly setting.
Every Tuersday, bevore the official session of the Senat, the Senators meet here for breakfast - just among themselves, without their aiders.

Important guests at the Rathaus are often received in the Gobelinzimmer to sign the city's Golden Book. A lavish, old tapestry from the famous French "Manufacture des Gobelins" gives the room its name.

This tastefully crafted gobelin is of high artistic value. It belongs to a series of eight large gobelins depicting scenes from Greek mythology.
